Home Remodeling in Anchorage, KY

Stonehenge Construction has been remodeling homes around Louisville since 1998. We’re a family-owned design-build company, so the people who design your project are the ones who build it. Anchorage homes tend to be older, bigger, and more particular than most, and we like that kind of work.

Remodeling in Anchorage, KY

We specialize in thoughtful remodels that make your home work better without losing what you love about it. Our projects include kitchens, primary bathrooms, garage additions, outdoor living spaces, and whole-house renovations with additions. We’ve worked on over 20 homes in the Anchorage area.

We’re especially known for reimagining the space you already have. Rather than defaulting to adding square footage, we redesign the existing layout so every room serves you better. For older homes with character, we preserve the details worth keeping while updating how the house lives. And for larger lots, we know when an addition or outdoor living area is the right move.

Permits, handled. Anchorage is a home-rule class city with its own permit and review requirements. We manage the permitting process for you, so there are no surprises and no paperwork for you to chase down.

What We Build In Anchorage

Home additions. More room without leaving a neighborhood you like, built so the new space looks like it was always part of the house.

Whole-home remodeling. Several rooms updated as one plan, with one schedule and one team.  See Whole Home Remodels

Kitchen remodeling. New layouts, cabinetry, counters, and lighting, planned around how you actually cook and gather.  See Kitchen Remodels

Bathroom remodeling. From a hall bath refresh to a full primary suite.  See Bathroom Remodels

Aging-in-place remodeling. Wider doorways, no-step showers, and safer layouts that don’t look clinical, for people who want to stay in the house they love.

Outdoor living and porches. Screened porches, covered patios, and spaces to use more of your property.  See Outdoor Living and Porch Remodels

Working On Older Homes

Every remodel has surprises, and some of them aren’t good ones. What matters is how they’re handled. When something unexpected turns up, we tell you right away, so you hear it from us before it affects your project.

For any change, we get a quote from the subcontractor and put it in a change order. That way you see the cost before anything moves forward.

On one project, we were excavating for an addition when we uncovered an old oil tank buried in the yard. Surprises like that are part of working on older homes, and we bring them to you immediately, with a plan and a price.

An Anchorage Project

A Kitchen Remodel

The problem: The family bought their home knowing they would eventually remodel the kitchen. The existing kitchen was small, with wasted space on either side that didn’t serve the home.

What we did: Rather than add square footage, we redesigned the space they already had. We removed two wood-burning fireplaces and a spiral staircase to open up room for a larger kitchen, and moved the laundry from the basement to the second floor.

How long it took: 7 months from start to finish.

How It Works

  1. A free first meeting. We walk the space with you, ask how you use it, and talk honestly about budget and timing.
  2. A plan and a timeline, in writing. You’ll know the steps and the dates before anything gets torn out. If the schedule changes, we tell you.
  3. One team, design to finish. Because we design and build, you’re not caught between a designer and a contractor.
  4. A final walkthrough. We don’t call it done until you’ve walked through it with us.

Clients Who Come Back

The best review we get is a repeat client. Many of our homeowners hire us for project after project, and we call it our 10 year plan. A kitchen now, a primary bathroom a few years later, then an addition or outdoor living space when the time is right. We build the relationship along with the home.

Questions Anchorage Homeowners Ask

Your first meeting is free. We’ll walk through the space, talk through what you want, and explain how we price and schedule the work.

Yes, and it’s one of the things we take the most pride in. When we add onto or remodel a house, the best compliment we can get is a client telling us they can’t see where the original home ends and the addition begins.

To get there, we spend real time matching the details that give a house its look, including brick and siding. The goal is an addition that looks like it was always part of the home.

Yes. We handle all permits for your project, so you don’t have to navigate the city’s requirements yourself.

One thing we don’t handle is homeowner association approval. If your neighborhood has an HOA, getting that sign-off is up to you, so it’s worth checking early, before plans are finalized.

Most kitchen remodels take about 3 to 4 months. A big part of that timeline is lead time from vendors, since cabinets, appliances, and other materials often need to be ordered well before construction can finish.

We also work in Prospect, Glenview, Harrods Creek, St. Matthews, Middletown, Jeffersontown, and across Oldham County.
